Mexico City (apro) – After announcing that he would retire from politics following his resignation as governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro has pledged that he would be president of Mexico if he returned to politics.
Enrique Alfaro said in an interview at Guadalajara International Airport that he did not aspire to become a legislator or hold any other public office except that of head of the executive.
“My only goal in returning to politics is to become President of the Republic one day. I never aspired to be a deputy or a senator. I was meant to be the governor of Jalisco, which I became. If one day I decided to pursue politics again, it would be to seek the presidency of Mexico, but that is not in my plans and I have no interest in doing so at the moment,” he explained.
The governor of the Jalisco state Civic Movement (MC) explains that his decision to leave politics remains firm and that he is at peace with it, explaining that for the time being he will return to his other passion: football.

“I made the decision long ago to retire from politics and I stand by my decision. I have come as far as I set out to go and if in the future I decide to come back, I will let you know. Today, I stand by the decision to retire that I made almost a year ago and I am at peace.
“I aspire to be on the pitch one day, it’s my other passion after politics, in my future I very much want it to be there, but life takes you in paths you can’t imagine at the time, short term political plans, zero, we’ll see later,” he explained.
