As the tussle for power intensifies in the upcoming legislative assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, a war of words has broken out between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.

Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Red Hat, Black Deeds’ Satire

At a meeting in Kanpur on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Samajwadi Party of having a dark history among its leaders. “Samajwadi Party leaders wear red hats but their deeds are black,” Adityanath remarked. He further charged that the Samajwadi Party’s history is full of questionable deeds, suggesting that beneath their public image lies a legacy of misdeeds.

Response from Akhilesh Yadav

Reacting to the Chief Minister’s remarks, Akhilesh Yadav on Friday issued a nuanced rebuttal. Without naming Adityanath directly, Yadav took to social media to address the criticism head-on. In a post on “X” (formerly Twitter), he said that those who lack affection, harmony and empathy tend to have a negative perception of the colour red.

Elaborating on the psychological implications of color preferences, Yadav said: “There is no inherent good or bad in color; it all depends on perspective.” He suggested that people who react strongly to certain colors may have deeper psychological issues that associate such reactions with negative emotions.
