Salaries will not be adjusted, but will be increased a bit.In a press conference on Friday, August 9, Ministers Renganaden Padayachy, Soodesh Callichurn and Anjiv Ramdhany announced a series of measures approved by the Council of Ministers.
In the private sector, the minimum salary for a diploma holder must be Rs 23,000 per month. For a university degree holder, the monthly salary must be at least Rs 25,000.
With regard to the public sector, the ‘Total Pay Scale’ of the Compensation Research Bureau’s 2021 report proposes a 5% increase. From July 1, 106,590 people earning between Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 will receive an increase of Rs 2,925. Hence, the payment will be retrospective. As for 90,900 workers earning more than Rs 50,000, their increase will be between Rs 100 and Rs 600.
