A passerby apparently found a body in the Danube River in Vienna’s Brigittenau on Sunday morning.
The Vienna State Police confirmed to APA the corresponding online report from meinbezirk.at. A spokesman for the state police headquarters said at around 2 p.m. that police were investigating the identity of the deceased; the operation in the Handelske district was still ongoing.
According to the APA, the body is that of a person who had been missing for several days. The Vienna State Police reported in the afternoon that they are currently ruling out the possibility of negligence by a third party.
