A man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in Las Vegas was stabbed to death after a group of citizens intervened

A man who may have sexually assaulted a woman in Las Vegas was stabbed to death after a group of citizens stepped in to rescue the victim, authorities said Wednesday.

The Las Vegas Police Department said in a statement that the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a shed southeast of downtown Las Vegas. Press Releases.

Homicide detectives learned the group responded after hearing screams coming from the shed, the release said, adding that detectives believe the victim was stabbed during the intervention.

All members of the group fled before authorities arrived, the release said.

The release did not reveal the identities of the people involved.

The report said patrol officers sent to the scene found the man who may have been involved in the attack in an alley near the shed with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s homicide unit.
