On 8 June 2024, Dr David Brathwaite (Consultant Urologist) and his surgical team successfully performed the island’s first flexible ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy. This new technology expands the surgical options available to patients for the treatment of urinary stones (stones within the urinary tract, such as kidney stones, ureteral stones and bladder stones).
It is a rapid recovery and an appropriate treatment option for urinary stones. The team would like to thank Dr Paul Russ (Consultant Urologist, Barbados) for his efforts in making this new service a reality.
