“If we look out 24 months from now, or sometime from now (I can’t predict exactly when), most developers will no longer be writing code,” Garman said, according to Business Insider.
He believes that for developers, programming itself is becoming less important. Future jobs will focus more on developers having to truly understand the needs of the end users of the software they are building.
Still, Garman believes that even if the amount of manual work is decreasing, the demand for software developers will remain, and in the future, developers will be able to focus more on creativity and innovation in their work.
“The developer of 2025 will probably be different than the developer of 2020.”
