Just after half past one, the rescue service of Pohjois Ostrobothnia received an alert about a medium-sized building fire in Ampuhaukantie in Oulu.
Rescue authorities announced at 2:30 a.m. that the fire on the fourth floor of the apartment building had been put out.
The two had to take shelter on the balcony of the apartment to escape the fire and are currently being rescued via the elevator. Emergency personnel check on their condition.
According to rescue services, there were two cats in the apartment at the time of the fire, one of which has not yet been found.
Only a small amount of smoke entered the stairwell of the apartment building, the release said.
