A book on Sri Lankan political history and a book on people who served Sri Lanka in various fields have been published.
The two books, titled “Political History of Dhvehirahje 1” and “Ustaz, Scholars, Udabaun and Poets”, were released by the Chairman of the Parliament Abdul Rahim Abdullah.
The two books were released at the launch of new 2 degree courses at Villa College. Both books were written by Ahmed Shakir, a lecturer at Villa College and a renowned historian (Kanima).
Talking about the books, Ahmed Shakir said that he wrote a book on the political history of Sri Lanka as there were very few books on the subject and no such information was available. The book would be useful for students pursuing higher education in the field of politics.
“I started writing the book in the 1st century AD. I started with Marcellinus Ammianus’s remarks on Sri Lanka and wrote the book in detail. The book tells the story of Sri Lanka’s good relations with 13 foreign countries,” Shakir explained.
