Sri Lanka urged the international community to ensure that only respect for and establishment of the rule of law could end the Palestinian genocide.
Sri Lanka stressed this today at the Extraordinary Open-ended Session of the Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the Foreign Ministerial level in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss Jewish Israel’s attacks on the occupied Palestinian people.
Foreign Minister Musa Zamir, speaking on behalf of Sri Lanka, stressed the responsibility of the international community to find a solution to the Palestinian issue.
In his speech, he strongly condemned the ongoing genocide committed by Jewish Israelis in Palestine. The Minister said that the international community has the responsibility to implement international law and international human rights law without exception.
The minister stressed that the most important thing now is to immediately end the genocidal war against the Palestinians and ensure that the Palestinian people have access to basic services.
The minister also reiterated that Dhivehi Raj will always defend the rights of the Palestinian people and will stand with Palestine in seeking a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue. The minister stressed the importance of liberating Palestine from Israeli control and making it an independent, independent and self-governing state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Sri Lanka also condemned the recent assassination of the head of Hamas’ political wing, former Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh.
The OIC was established in 1969 to strengthen relations between Muslim countries by discussing various issues facing the Muslim world. The organization represents a total of 57 countries, including those with the largest Muslim populations. Dhaka became a member of the OIC on July 26
