The President of the Republic of Serbia Milorad Dodik once again raised the issue of pension payments and stated that pensions will be paid despite pressure and sanctions.

According to Dodik, K1,785,000,000 has been allocated in the budget for pension payments.

As of January 2024, the total pension amount increased by 9.25% compared with the previous year through annual regular adjustments.

“The payment of pensions will continue unhindered. Republika Srpska and its elected government will ensure that this happens. There is no doubt that Serbia’s financial sector is under organized formal and informal pressure. The goal is Serbia’s stability, which they want to threaten,” Dodik said in a statement.

He also said misinformation persists.

“In view of the continuous provision of incorrect data, I must repeat – in 2024, the Republika Srpska borrowed 276 million kilometers and returned 662 million kilometers, which shows that the number of kilometers returned was 386 million more than borrowed.

As of December 31, 2023, the public debt of Republika Srpska was 34.6% of GDP, and the current debt level is 32% of GDP. During the government of Republika Srpska led by the PDP and SDS coalition, which was led by a prominent economist, the public debt-to-GDP ratio reached 54.6%. I must note that in 2023, Republika Srpska borrowed 800 million km and returned 976 million km of debt, “said Milorad Dodik.
