‘Mysterious’ explosion in Istanbul kills four

A mysterious blast killed four people in Sopore town in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Monday, officials said.

The incident took place in Shail Colony in Sopore, which had been peaceful for the past four years after experiencing separatist violence. New Delhi Television report.

“A mysterious blast occurred in Shair community of Sopore town this afternoon, leaving four persons critically injured. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared three of them dead. The fourth injured was taken to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar but succumbed to his injuries on the way,” an official said.

The victims have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Nadroo, Azam Ashraf Mir, Adil Rashid Bhat and Abdul Rashid Bhat, all residents of Sopore area, the official added.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact nature of the explosion.

Sopore was once a hotbed of separatist violence during the Kashmir Valley’s insurgency but has experienced a period of relative calm in recent years. The area was also a political bastion of the late hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Gilani, who hailed from the town.
