Patients at Noble Hospital who require cardiovascular assessment as part of recognised Stage 1 outpatient care are now benefiting from a generous donation from the Isle of Man Heart Foundation.

The charity officially handed over an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine to the team at the Outpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit (AATU) at Noble Hospital on July 22, 2024. The device is primarily used for patients who need further testing or follow-up after being discharged from hospital, returning to the AATU for outpatient treatment.

Isle of Man Heart Foundation President Karen Chiarello and Vice President Richard Akitt recently visited the AATU to view the new equipment now in use and to hear about the impact it will have on patient care.

Mark Cox, General Manager of Medical, Urgent Care and Ambulance Services, commented:

“The AATU already enables a large number of patients to remain independent without the need for hospitalization, and this device will expand the capabilities of the unit, allowing more cardiac patients to be monitored without the need for hospitalization.

“We are extremely grateful to the Isle of Man Heart Foundation for their generosity – this donation captures the spirit of altruism on the Isle of Man, supporting our health service and supporting each other.”
