Islamabad, Pakistan – July 30, 2024: She Loves Tech, the world’s largest women’s entrepreneurship competition, has launched its Islamabad leg, co-organized by Telenor Velocity and hosted by CIRCLE Women’s Association, with Sapphire as the merchandise partner.
The competition was held at Telenor Pakistan’s Campus ‘345’ in Islamabad and brought together innovative women-led tech startups, industry experts and ecosystem collaborators. Ten shortlisted women-led startups participated in the event to compete for a chance to compete in the national finals in August. The winners of the national finals will advance to the She Loves Tech South Asia regional round.

This year’s event is the 8th edition of She Loves Tech Pakistan, hosted by CIRCLE Women. She Loves Tech Pakistan has emerged as the premier platform for women-led tech startups, offering customized workshops, mentorship programs, and access to a diverse network of mentors and ecosystem collaborators.
Speaking about the event and its importance, Sadaffe Abid, Founder and CEO of CIRCLE Women said, “With Pakistan ranking low on the gender gap index and only 1% of entrepreneurs being women, She Loves Tech Pakistan plays a vital role in supporting women-led tech startups”, she further added, “Our goal at CIRCLE Women is to inspire women and girls to pursue their tech dreams and contribute to building a more inclusive and successful country.”
Areej Khan, Chief People Officer at Telenor, added: “Telenor is committed to leveling the digital playing field. By partnering with She Loves Tech, we are investing in the potential of women in Pakistan. Given the country’s dismal ranking of 142nd in female economic participation, it is clear that we must accelerate progress.”
Through Telenor Pakistan’s homegrown and partnered initiatives such as the Digital Literacy Program with CIRCLE Women’s Association, Girls Learn Women Earn with the World Bank, Digital Hackathon with Google, and Telenor’s startup accelerator Velocity, the organization is committed to developing a comprehensive ecosystem to support women-led startups. These efforts aim to close the gender gap and unlock the full potential of Pakistani women entrepreneurs to create a more inclusive future.
