Namibia was ranked as the fourth best country in Africa to travel with children, while South Africa performed slightly better in third place.

Travel agency Go2Africa conducted the poll.

Seychelles is the most child-friendly country in Africa and the world, with the most family-friendly hotels, attractions and restaurants, making it the most popular tourist destination for parents. Morocco ranks second in Africa and Madagascar ranks fifth.

According to Go2Africa, families have many factors to consider when choosing a holiday destination.

“They need to ensure the area offers a variety of family-friendly hotels, plenty of activities to keep kids entertained, and a variety of restaurants that cater to discerning eaters.”

“Everyone has a share”

To help families find the perfect spot for their next adventure, Go2Africa said it analyzed nearly 4,000 hotels, attractions and restaurants around the world to find the perfect place to visit.

To conduct the research, the travel agency first compiled a comprehensive list of all the countries in the world.

“We then collected data from Tripadvisor on the number of family-friendly and four- to five-star hotels, attractions and restaurants. By calculating the percentage of family-friendly establishments out of the total number of establishments, we identified the best destinations to visit with children.”

The report also said Africa has some of the most incredible environments and activities for families to explore with their children.

“From vast national parks where children can get their first encounters with exotic wildlife, to pristine beaches that are unlike any other in the world, there is something for everyone.”

Perfect for family trips

Ranked fourth according to Go2Africa, Namibia is a great destination for families looking for adventure and unique experiences.

“Families can experience a thrilling Namibian safari in Etosha National Park, home to rare wildlife such as elephants, lions and giraffes, or explore the rich wetlands (in the Zambezi region).”

It added that many accommodation facilities in Namibia offer child-friendly programmes, swimming pools, numerous activities and interactive conservation experiences.

“The country is safe, malaria-free in most areas and perfect for family travel.”

According to the 2023 Tourism Statistics Report, 6.4% of Namibian tourists are under the age of 19.
