Former President Donald Trump’s latest excuse for not wanting to debate Vice President Kamala Harris is simply not backed up by data.
During an interview with Fox Business on Friday morning, host Maria Bartiromo asked Trump if he would consider going head-to-head with Harris.
“Well, I guess. And it looks like we’re still ahead by a lot in the polls. She’s better than him, but ultimately I think she’s going to be worse than him,” Trump said of President Joe Biden.
“I mean, now I’m like, why am I doing a debate?” Trump said. explain“I was leading in the polls. And, everybody knew her, everybody knew me.”

Trump has argued that he doesn’t need to debate Harris because he has already beaten her, but it’s unclear if that’s the case. Several national polls released this week showed that Harris is a top candidate in the race for the Democratic primary. Establishment Polls show Harris ahead of Trump.

Harris’ campaign has insisted she will participate in the presidential debate scheduled for Sept. 10, hosted by ABC News, whether her opponent wants to attend or not.
“She would wait there to see if he would show up,” the statement said.
