Japan has provided 161 million yen (about 1.02 million U.S. dollars) in grant aid for the Dhaka Human Resources Development Scholarship Program.

The Dhaka government and the Japanese government signed an “Exchange of Notes” to provide six scholarship opportunities for 2024 under the Japan Government Human Resources Development Scholarship Program (JDS).

Foreign Minister Musa Zamil signed the agreement on behalf of the Dhaka government at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Midori Takeuchi signed on behalf of the Japanese government.

Under grants offered by the Japanese government from 2020, students will have the opportunity to study for a master’s degree at one of Japan’s top universities.

The aim of the scholarship program is to develop a pool of high-quality human resources that are capable and qualified to play an important role in national reconstruction, with the expectation of participating in the formulation and implementation of future social and economic development policies.
