Kochi Radio wins National Award for Community Broadcasting

Radio 90 FM Kochi, the first community radio station in Ernakulam, operated under the authority of St. Theresa’s College (Autonomous College), Kochi, has won the 10th edition of the prestigious National Award for Community Radio, instituted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under the ‘Thematic Category’.

Radio Kochi won the award for Nirangal: A Lineage of Vibrant Talent, a 15-part series on autism awareness. Radio Kochi is the first community radio station in Kerala to produce and air an exclusive series on autism.

Provincial superior Sister Vinitha said the award adds a lot of glory to the ongoing centenary celebrations of the college. Tania Lewis, Chandulal PC and Krishnakumar CK are the producers of the series while Sister Ashrita and Nikhil Abraham are the coordinators.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the awards.
