The Rapid Rail Metro Corridor will offer two types of service
The Rapid Rail-Metro Corridor will provide two types of services such as the Rapid RRTS service with a speed of up to 114 km/hr and stopping at limited stations, and the Metro service with a speed of 46 km/hr and stopping at all stations.
The fast RRTS service will reduce the travel time to Sarai Kale Khan to 56 minutes, to Delhi Aerocity to 66 minutes, to Ghaziabad to 37 minutes and to Meerut to 72 minutes, while the normal RRTS service running at a speed of 84 kmph will take an extra 13 minutes on each route.
Apart from this, the Rapid Rail Metro corridor will include the 10-km long Aqua Line Metro stretch between Char Murti Chowk and Knowledge Park V and incorporate the proposed light rail transit between NIA and YEIDA Sector 21/Film City.
The new corridor is expected to handle about 326,000 passengers per day with a peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of 8,784 by 2030-31, rising to 757,000 passengers per day with a peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of 23,957 by 2054-55.
