Police News: RSLPF files lawsuit in Anse La Raye gun recovery case

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, at approximately 2am, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) seized a firearm and ammunition at Anse La Raye.

The recovery stems from an incident that resulted in the death of a man from Marigot, Castries District, and the subsequent arrest of five persons.

The crime scene investigation revealed and seized one (1) .40 caliber handgun with seven (7) rounds in the magazine and one (1) spent shell casing.

As a result, five (5) people in the vehicle were arrested and subsequently charged for possession of ammunition and possession of firearms, they were identified as:

• Lauwen Saint Val, 26, from Dennery.
• Ferdie Antoine, a thirty-year-old (30) Canarian from the Canary Islanders.
• Tahvar Joseph, 20, of Marigot, Castries District.
• Chelsey Leo, twenty-three (23), from Marigot, Castries.
• Fran Gustave, 27, of Castries-Marigot

All five defendants were taken to the District Court where they filed bail applications. Each defendant was granted bail in the amount of Twenty-five Thousand Dollars (XCD25,000.00) in cash, appropriate surety or land document.
