Tahiti, July 24, 2024 – The cost of living is still not falling, according to the latest Consumer Price Index just released by the French Polynesian Statistical Institute (ISPF). Although it was fairly stable in June, it has risen by 1.3% in one year.
ISPF said that in June 2024, the general consumer price index rose by 0.1% to 110.86. This increase was mainly due to increases in transport services (+4.3%) and housing rents (including charges) (+0.6%). Excluding international air transport, the price index remained stable in June 2024, rising by 1.3% in the 12 rolling months. The workers’ index also remained stable in June 2024, rising by 1.2% year-on-year. From June 2023 to June 2024, the general consumer price index rose by 1.2%. The average change over the past 12 months is +1.3%.
