The Republic of San Marino is ready to once again transform itself into an open-air stage with the 27th edition of Medieval Days, an unmissable event that invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a medieval atmosphere.
This year, Medieval Days promises to be an increasingly rich and immersive experience. The historic centre, a UNESCO Heritage site, hosts a rich programme of activities including tours, historical teaching, medieval musical instruments and cultural conferences, celebrating all aspects of medieval life.
Don’t miss the evening event in the evocative setting of Cava dei Balestrieri, which will begin soonThe show organized by the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation will open on Friday the 26th. This will be followed by a colorful program with a historical carnival parade, stilt shows by the Vagant Theater and enchanting music by Fanfarenzug Otteinrich.
On the evening of Saturday 27th, two San Marino bands, Le Barnos and Cerna dei Lunghi Archi, will present performances of medieval music and drums, performances by the San Sepolcro Flag Waving Group and once again the musical charm of Fanfarenzug Otteinrich.
On Sunday 28th, a grand final,The quarries will be testing crossbow shooting from 4.30pm in the cities of Lucca, Massa Marittima, Porta San Marco – Pisa, Sansepolcro, Volterra and of course San Marino. These cities will participate in the historic crossbow shooting competition called “Tricorniolo Challenge” from 9.15pm, with 3 tree trunks of different diameters as targets specially designed by crossbow craftsmen to stimulate the interest of the public.
In addition to the main evening events at Cava dei Balestrieri, daily programs offer unique experiences in medieval history Events at various locations in all areas of the historic centre: Jugglery, live music, stilt walkers, theatrical performances by historical groups and parades, where artists will allow the public to participate in their performances. The journey through daily life in the Middle Ages will be enriched by educational activities by artisan merchants who will reproduce ancient crafts down to the smallest detail, as well as historical games even for small children.
San Marino’s historical groups will be at the heart of the event. Always very lively and attractive thanks to their participation, they will bring the areas of the historic center back to the past. Heartfelt thanks to them and to the positive synergy created with the Tourism Board for the realization of the San Marino Summer event, and to the State Secretariat of Tourism for its cooperation and trust.
More than just an event, Medieval Days is a profound celebration of San Marino’s culture and history, offering every visitor an unforgettable experience.
