Government celebrates Majeeduya School’s centenary

The government will celebrate the centenary of Majeeduya School in colours, said Ismail Shafie. The minister was speaking at the launch of the countdown to the 100th anniversary of Majeeduya School.

A 1000-day countdown has been launched to celebrate the centenary of Majeeduya School. The countdown was launched by the Minister of Education. The Minister noted the contribution of Majeeduya School to the development of Sri Lanka. He said this was evidenced by the fact that eight former presidents of Sri Lanka were students of the school. Therefore, the government will celebrate the centenary of Majeeduya School, which is an important centre in the history of education in Sri Lanka.



“If Allah wills, Majdua will become a century in 1,000 days. This 100th anniversary celebration will be an official initiative organized by the Ministry of Education,” he said.

The ceremony also marked the 1,000-day countdown to the centenary celebrations of Majidua School and honoured those who had served the school for 20 years and 10 years and above.
Majeeduya School will celebrate its centenary on April 18.

During the countdown, funds will be raised to erect a special monument at the school in connection with the centenary celebrations. The school’s senior band will perform at the school’s Salahuddin Hall on Wednesday evening to raise funds.
