– This is presumably Dodik’s way of testing people’s reaction to a later referendum – Sezovic listed possible motives. Analysts believe that this referendum is a major test of the 2018 referendum, where the stakes could be the independence of the Republika Srpska.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic opposed the September 25 referendum from the beginning and called its peaceful conduct the greatest achievement. His statement showed that Belgrade would not support the secessionist aspirations of the Bosnian Serbs. According to the ruling of the Bosnian Constitutional Court, Dodik held the referendum in violation of the position of the Serbian authorities and the international community, which will definitely have consequences.

The international community has made sanctions imminent: Valentin Inzko, the chief representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the organizers of the referendum committed a crime, so they will inevitably be subject to punitive measures. The United States and the European Union have raised the possibility of Dodik being blacklisted.

The State Prosecutor’s Office in Sarajevo summoned Dodik for violating the Constitutional Court ruling, but he did not go to Sarajevo, saying he wanted to comply with the summons within the territory of the Republic of Serbia. – The police could also produce Dodik, but it is unlikely to happen because of concerns that this would lead to riots or even armed conflict. Sezovic said that this step can only be taken after the international community gives a green signal.

The professor said that despite such events, the atmosphere in Bosnia and Herzegovina is completely normal, people act as if nothing has happened, there will be no major conflicts, and wars of words and political tensions between countries are also part of daily life.
