Hundreds of people gathered at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, to protest against Benjamin Netanyahu’s trip to the United States. He departed for the United States today and was scheduled to address the US Congress on Wednesday. He was also expected to meet with US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Protesters do not want Netanyahu to go to the United States until a deal is reached to free Hamas hostages, of whom about 120 are believed to be still being held by the group, which took more than 250 hostages in the Oct. 7 Israeli raid.

Netanyahu said yesterday that a delegation would leave Israel on Thursday to negotiate with Hamas on the release of the hostages. He did not say where the delegation would go, but Qatari and Egyptian negotiators have held talks before.
During Netanyahu’s visit, Washington has seen a large number of protests against the Gaza war and the US government’s military support for Israel. According to Western media reports, activist groups have rented buses to transport participants to Washington.
Washington police said they were stepping up preparations but had not received any threats.
