Kathmandu, July 6. Nepal defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in the Women’s Cricket Asia Cup. The defeat made Nepal’s chances of advancing to the next stage difficult.

After defeating UAE in the first match, Nepal set Pakistan a target of 109 on Sunday. After losing the toss at Dambulla and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 108 runs after losing six wickets in 20 overs. For Nepal, Kavita Joshi scored an unbeaten 31, Sita Rana Magar 26 and Pooja Mahato 25.

Pakistan, with a target of 109 runs in mind, achieved the target with the loss of one wicket in just 11.5 overs, helped by Gul Feroze’s half-century.

Kavita Joshi, who took Pakistan’s only wicket, started off very aggressively, but when Feroza was dismissed for 57, Pakistan needed just four runs to win.

Manibar Ali and Tuba Hasan teamed up to win for Pakistan. Ali remained unbeaten on 46 while Hasan remained unbeaten on one run. Nepal will now face India next Tuesday.

In Group A, India ranked in the top seven with 4 points, while second-placed Pakistan and third-placed Nepal each had 2 points. The UAE team did not score a single point.
