An elderly man’s hair was burned, police are hunting for the group – Love FM Belize News & Music Power

Tonight, police are looking for several people from the Village of Roaring Creek in connection with a video that went viral showing them setting an elderly man’s hair on fire. The widely shared video shows a group of people laughing at a drunk man, cutting off his hair and then lighting parts of his hair on fire. A woman then puts out the flames as several other people laugh in the background. The incident has sparked outrage on social media with many calling for the perpetrators to be arrested. Tonight, Police Chief Chester Williams assessed the despicable act and said police are investigating.

Police Commissioner Chester Williams: “All I can say at this point is that the video has been shared with us and the Western Area Commander is dealing with it. We believe we know who is behind the video and who the victim whose hair was burnt is, so that is something that police are dealing with at this time.”

reporter: In this case, does the victim need to report the crime, or does the police just need to press charges.

Police Commissioner Chester Williams: “Police will record the victim’s statement in an effort to locate the victim.”

The victim reportedly sought medical treatment for his injuries.
