The newcomer to the world’s top 10 national teams compared to last month is not Croatia, but Copa America finalists Colombia, which jumped to ninth place. Interestingly, Croatia and Colombia swapped places, as last month Colombia was ranked 12th and Croatia was 9th.
Argentina continued to maintain its lead, ahead of world runner-up France, who are defending their Cup title. Spain made a huge leap towards becoming the European champion with seven wins in the same number of games as Germany, with excellent play and “angry” results allowing Spain to jump from eighth to third place.
European Championship finalists England swapped places with Brazil, so England are now fourth and Brazil fifth, while Belgium dropped three places from third to sixth.
Interestingly, although Italy’s title defence at the European Championship ended in elimination in the round of 16, this did not affect its ranking, with the Azzurri still ranked 10th.
