Kathmandu, June 4 – Nepal will take on the United Arab Emirates in the first match of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament in Sri Lanka. The match will begin at 2:15 pm Nepal time in Dambulla.
Nepal’s Indu Burma and UAE’s Isha Ojha will be the captains. Nepal is participating in the Women’s Asian Cup for the third time. Previously, Nepal had not won after playing 3 games in 2012 and 5 games in 2016. Nepal is looking to beat the UAE for the first time in the history of the Asian Cup.
Nepal is heavily dependent on experienced all-rounders Sita Ranamar, Ruveena Chhetri and captain Indu Burma. The performance of these three players will be very important. Youngsters Rajmati Airi, Kavita Kunwar and Pooja Mahato are also expected to emerge as all-rounders. On the other hand, UAE is more dependent on Isha Ojha, Kavisha Igodage and Theerth Satish.
Group A consists of Nepal, India, Pakistan and UAE. Group B has Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. A total of 4 T20I matches were played between Nepal and UAE. Nepal won 2 and lost 1. One match was scoreless due to rain.
