The winners of the various Carnival 2024 awards will be announced at a press conference at 11:00 this morning at the Castries Financial Center.
The 2024 Carnival ended yesterday, the final day of a two-day street parade where 11 bands competed for the prestigious award of Band of the Year.

It was a memorable night for calypso music in St. Lucia last Saturday when Dezral captured his second Calypso Monarch title at the National Calypso Competition Finals.
The event showcased engaging performances that explored major domestic, social and political issues.
Dezlar attributes his success to the debut performance and the relevance of his songs, “De Biggest Gun” and “A Wish for Fish,” which resonated with the community.
“De Biggest Gun” depicts the heroics of the island’s top sprinter Julien Alfred and her prolific achievements on the track “Shooting for the Stars”, contrasting it with the ongoing gun violence and carnage in the streets and communities. The latter track “A Wish for Fish” pays tribute to a trailblazing cultural icon on the island who seemed to have temporarily stepped out of the public eye, but ironically appeared as a guest on the show.
Ricky T won the Power Soca Monarch competition for the 23rd time, a record that may stand for a long time.
Sly won the Groovy Soca Monarch competition with his amazing talent show.
On June 29, Miss Bounty Rum Shane Lucien was crowned National Carnival Queen at the Rodney Bay Pavilion with her usual poise, confidence and elegance.
The Courts Babonneau Steel Band won the Panorama competition for the eighth time. The band showed that even the heavy rain on the night of the competition could not dampen their enthusiasm.
Erny J, representing the St. Lucia Workers Credit Union, won the Commercial Building Inter-Calypso Competition with his performance that wowed the crowd.
Mongouge Combined and Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School ceremoniously won the primary and secondary school categories.
The results of the Youth Carnival will be announced at a press conference today.
