DI Khan terrorist attack kills two soldiers and five civilians

A terrorist attack on the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Kirisha Mozai area of ​​Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed seven people, including two security personnel and five civilians, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.

According to military media reports, civilian casualties included RHC staff, two female health workers, a janitor and two minors.

“Terrorists carried out a dastardly attack on Rural Health Centre (RHC) at Kirri Shamozai in Dera Ismail Khan district on the night of July 15-16 and opened fire on RHC staff,” the ISPR said after the incident.

Nearby security forces immediately launched a clearing operation. In the subsequent exchange of fire, the troops effectively struck the terrorists, killing three attackers.

The security personnel who died in the fierce exchange of fire were 44-year-old Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq and 23-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal.

The military’s media wing also mentioned that a clearing operation was underway to eliminate remaining terrorists in the area.

“The perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act targeting innocent civilians, especially women and children, will be brought to justice,” the statement added.

Multiple attacks

The attack was carried out on the morning of July 15 when terrorists were prevented from entering Bannu Cantonment. Another terrorist incident occurred within 24 hours and eight soldiers were killed in the attack.

According to ISPR, after the initial attack failed, ten terrorists who tried to break into the camp drove a car loaded with explosives into the wall, killing all the terrorists. The subsequent suicide bombing led to the collapse of part of the wall, damage to nearby infrastructure and the martyrdom of eight brave soldiers.
