The Socialist Party sued the Central Election Commission after its supervisory board did not approve some procedural deadlines for part of the elections in Himare city.

The jury that will hear this case was drawn today:

  1. Manjola Xhaxho (journalist);
  2. Nafiye Hasko (member);
  3. Sokol Ibi (Member);
  4. Marsela Dervishi (Member);
  5. Adriella Petri (Member).

Meanwhile, the Tirana Administrative Court of Appeal has scheduled a hearing for July 17 at 11:00.

Before the Administrative Court of Appeal of Tirana, on behalf of the Judicial Electoral College, case No. 3 Reg. Founder, dated July 12, 2024, where:

Plaintiff: Albanian Socialist Party.

Respondents: Central Election Commission, Central Election Commission Supervisory Committee.

People who are interested: The “Win Together” Alliance.

Object: – Objection to the failure of the Central Election Commission’s Supervisory Committee to make a decision on “approval of some procedural deadlines related to the partial elections for the mayor of Himara, which will be held on August 4, 2024.”

– The CEC Regulatory Committee is obliged to make an immediate decision “on the approval of some procedural deadlines related to the partial elections for the mayor of the municipality of Himare, to be held on August 4, 2024.”

For your information, the CEC Regulatory Committee seems to have revoked Decision No. 2 Dt. 09.07.2024 “Approval of some procedural deadlines for the partial elections for the mayor of the city of Himare to be held on August 4, 2024”, the content of which also reflects the following instructions:

“Implementation of Article 20, Point 3 of Law No. 20. On Amendments to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania No. 10019 from 29 December 2008, which did not obtain the required number of votes to be deemed approved” (3 members of the Supervisory Board voted in favor and 2 members voted against) ).

On July 15, 2024, a public drawing was held to determine the composition of the Judicial Electoral College, and according to the results of the drawing, the group consists of judges:

  1. Manjola Xhaxho (journalist);
  2. Nafiye Hasko (member);
  3. Sokol Ibi (Member);
  4. Marsela Dervishi (Member);
  5. Adriella Petri (Member).

In accordance with the order of the Judicial Electoral College dated July 15, 2024 “On the appointment of the Judicial Session”, the Judicial Session is scheduled to be held on July 17, 2024 at 11:00 in the building of the Administrative Court of Appeal, address: Rr. “Ismail Qemali”, Tirana.
