Skier Joan Verdú, who achieved a historic result in March by finishing second in the Alpine Skiing World Cup final in the Austrian resort of Saalbach, will be the forerunner of the capital’s main festival, which will begin on August 2. Verdú succeeds last year’s forerunner, Casi Arajol, and will be the second athlete to receive this prestigious honor after pilot Albert Llovera, who won in 2010, the first year of the festival, according to today’s regulatory announcement
As of August 5, 50 events have been scheduled, which will be divided between the usual venues (mainly the Galleria degli Arcades, but also the Central Park, Plaça del Poble and Plaça Benlloch) and two spaces “opened for the purpose of decentralizing the activities”. The Petit Consul Oalla Losada: Carrer Callaueta, with circus and traditional games workshops, and Terra Vella and Borda Nova, where the first Andròmines Grand Prix will take place.
As always, the highlight of the program will be ten concerts, with three heavyweights: Irma Farelo, aka Mushkaa, will open the musical lineup with her proposed rap and Akelarre (August 2, Plaça Guillemó); the ecstatic Miki Núñez will spend the evening with Tribute to Pau Donés, the official band of Jarabe de Palo, which pays tribute to the composer of La flaca i Depende (August 3, Plaça Guillemó). La Pegatina’s ska, a summer classic, will collaborate with DJ Patricia Mantovani (August 5, Plaça Guillemó. La Primary de la Bisbal, another regular (August 4), will open the show with the local style Soustorm.

Comú has allocated a budget of 200,000 euros for the tournament, mainly to pay for the boxes of Mushkaa (20,150 euros), La Pegatina (48,100 euros) and Miki Núñez (21,500 euros).
