Isle of Man Government – Isle of Man’s annual Industry Day returns this November

The Isle of Man Tourism’s annual industry day, Destination Day, returns this year. Monday, November 13, Villa MarinaRepresentatives from the island’s tourism and hospitality industry are welcome to register, including accommodation providers, activity and attraction providers, dining venues, retailers and anyone with an interest in the tourism and visitor economy.

The one-day conference provides an opportunity for Isle of Man Tourism and businesses in the tourism sector to learn about the island’s strategic direction for visitor and economic growth, initiatives to enhance the visitor experience, and valuable insights from speakers on relevant industry topics. Delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops designed to improve business performance.

Lisa Grainger, travel editor for The Times and The Sunday Times Luxx, will be this year’s guest speaker. Having worked in journalism since the 1980s and having written for The Times, Condé Nast Traveler and Departures, Lisa’s keynote will focus on sustainability, travel trends and consumer behaviour, all informed by her extensive on-the-ground experience.

Deborah Heather, Chief Executive of the Isle of Man Tourism, said:

“The theme of this year’s event is ‘Moving Forward Together’, which focuses on driving our industry forward; together we can achieve growth and success. Our 10-year visitor economy strategy, Our Island, Our Future, released last year, aims to drive the Isle of Man to new heights, ensuring it remains a stunning and sustainable destination for years to come. We believe that by working together and supporting each other, we can shape a prosperous and sustainable future for the island’s tourism industry.

“We are delighted to have Lisa Grainger as the featured speaker at this year’s event. We are confident her wealth of knowledge, keen consumer perspective and fresh perspective will be a strength to our industry stakeholders and I encourage all businesses to attend and take advantage of the insights provided by the various presentations and workshops scheduled throughout the day.”

Minister for Enterprise Tim Johnston MHK will open the day’s events, followed by a keynote address from Lisa Grainger, speeches from CEO Deborah Heather and Chairman of the Isle of Man Tourism Ranald Caldwell, and a panel of tourism industry experts to round off the morning’s events. In the afternoon, delegates will have the opportunity to attend workshops hosted by Isle of Man Tourism and Board members, discussing topics such as digitalisation and distribution, marketing and partnerships, and seasonality.

The destination day is free to attend and refreshments will be available throughout the day at Villa Marina and Woodbourne Kitchen.
