Graduate licenses could make their debut soon. Transport Minister Alan Ganoo said consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers India had confirmed to the government that temporary licenses could be issued to motorists who have just passed their driving test. How this would work is being worked out. If authorities deem a motorist unfit to drive on the roads, the driver could have their license revoked during the probationary period.

Minister Ganu made the announcement on July 3 while launching 20 new buses for the national transporter.

Minister Ganu also announced that 23 acres of land in the Forest Edge area will be used to build a training center for drivers and motorcyclists. “Our drivers are not adequately trained to drive alone on the road. They get their licence by learning to drive with their father or brother, but they are unable to drive in difficult and real conditions.“Allen Ganou said.

He noted that the center will be equipped with new technologies and infrastructure, such as making the asphalt wet and putting drivers in realistic conditions, such as during rain.

In addition, Alan Ganoo added that CNT will soon purchase 100 diesel buses and 200 electric buses.

CNT Director General Rao Rama announced the launch of Mobis app which will let bus users know when the bus will reach the stop where they usually wait.
