Papua New Guinea leadership wants to sack cabinet members

Papua New Guinea Opposition Leader Douglas Tomurisa says Cabinet minister ‘Olima’ should be sacked over charges in Australia.

Minister Jimmy Maladina appeared in court today accused of assaulting his wife during a dispute in Sydney last weekend.

Although Maladina has temporarily relieved Carpenter of his duties, Tomurisa wants him removed from his leadership post because of the scandal and disgrace affecting the country and the government.

The Courier-Mail report quoted Maladina as saying that cabinet members should be punished based on their behavior in public and in front of their families.

ATMs affected in Tonga due to internet issues

Earlier this month, Tonga had some issues as the internet was affecting their ATMs and “Eftpos”.

ABC’s Pacific Rhythm reports that the problem has led some phone companies to switch to satellite communications.

A cable repair ship from Singapore is en route to Tonga and is expected to arrive next Thursday.

Prime Minister Fingaro wants to amend some of the prime ministerial positions of the opposition party

Fijian Prime Minister Sitiweni Rabuka has reportedly urged the nine (9) opposition ministers who have expressed their support for the Prime Minister to continue to serve the Fijian people who voted for them.

According to an interview with The Fiji Times, Rabuka expressed the importance of continuing to serve these lawmakers because of the people in their constituencies.

More than 200,000 people voted for the now-defunct Fiji First party in the last election.

Homes and farms damaged in Papua New Guinea, two killed

A beer drinking accident in a village in Papua New Guinea has killed two Nyagata people but damaged their homes and crops.

According to The Nation, a man allegedly lost his phone after getting drunk and got into a fight with men who had been drinking.

According to police reports, the man attacked five people with a knife before taking refuge in his home, where he was eventually killed.

When the people and the families of the deceased learned about it, they went to the villages where the perpetrators lived, burned the houses of the families and destroyed their blood.

Coconut steel man attacks wife in McDonald’s

Mr Mitesh Kumar appeared in the High Court at Auckland in the middle of this week to answer charges that he attempted to kill his wife over issues that occurred between them at a McDonald’s restaurant in 2016.

According to court records, the 45-year-old man stabbed his wife with a McDonald’s knife hidden in his pocket.

According to the article, Kumar and his wife, who were divorcing after 18 years of marriage, planned to meet at McDonald’s with their two children.
