The Western Provincial Government, led by Premier Billy Veo, is reviewing a number of provincial ordinances.
The review is to ensure that the decree complies with existing laws and regulations.
Speaking at the 46th Independence Celebrations held at Kennedy Stadium in Gizo, Western Province on Monday, Governor Viau said other decrees that needed to be reviewed included the Western Province Markets Decree, the Western Province Business Licences Decree and the Western Province Town Councils Decree.
“The government’s first priority is to review the existing decree to ensure it is in line with current laws, regulations and best practices,” Prime Minister Viau said.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has completed the recruitment of highly qualified officials who will lead the implementation of the government’s key policy priorities.
The arrival of these experts will greatly enhance the technical capabilities of our province.
“There is still much work to be done and I assure you that the government is determined and committed to progressively achieving the desired outcomes reflected in the policy translation documents of the current government,” Prime Minister Viau said.
