EU Ambassador to San Marino makes farewell visit

In the morning, Foreign Minister Luca Beccari welcomed at the Beni Palace the EU Ambassador to San Marino, Alexandra Falkenberg, on a farewell visit to end her senior diplomatic duties.

During the conversation, Secretary Beccari recalled with pleasure and gratitude the four years of work of Ambassador Falkenberg, characterized by the response to global challenges and the strengthening of cooperation between San Marino and the European Union. The Ambassador’s diplomatic mission also coincided with the final stage of negotiations on the Association Agreement between San Marino and the European Union and the finalization of the pilot text of the Agreement.

In this regard, the Ambassador hoped that the San Marino institutions would be able to proceed with the signing of the Association Agreement in a short time. He also recalled some important moments that have taken place in the past four years, such as the first official visit of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maroš Sefcovic, to San Marino on January 20, 2023, and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Republic of San Marino and the European Union celebrate 2023.
