The Government of Saint Lucia is committed to developing the Northeast Community Area, covering the area from Dauphin to Gros Islet Monch, to effectively utilize the undeveloped land in the area.

Minister of Tourism and Investment Dr. Hilaire highlighted the long-standing desire to build the North East Link Road and revealed the high level of investor interest in the Grand Anse and Dauphiné regions.

Despite the road’s unique features, the government is determined to proceed with national plans to build it.

“Potential investors must recognise and respect the fragility of the area as a nature reserve, with nesting turtles and other environmental issues,” the tourism minister said at a recent press conference.

In 2016, the government took the initiative to commission Stantec Consulting Inc. to conduct social impact assessment interviews in order to properly assess the potential impacts of a new road in the northeast of the island.
