KARACHI: Continuing his exploration of the analogies of the Quran and the Prophet as the theme for this year’s Ashara Mubaraka in Karachi, Dawoodi Bohra community leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin on Wednesday highlighted universal themes of community, friendship and personal growth, drawing inspiration from three hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) about his companions and the Ummah (community).
These hadiths use powerful natural analogies: the stars as a source of guidance, salt as a key element of food, rain as a universal provider of goodness.
Based on these metaphors, Syedna Saifuddin stressed the importance of social solidarity and mutual support.
He encouraged all sectors of society to guide each other like the stars, improve each other’s lives like salt improves food, and provide universal benefits like rain.
He stressed the value of continued support in times of joy and difficulty, echoing the wisdom of the Sunnah.
Syedna also shares insights on discernment in relationships, and uses parables and historical examples to warn people against forming toxic friendships.
He spoke about balancing spiritual and material pursuits, noting that worldly success often stems from a sincere devotion to one’s beliefs and values.
His speech focused on building a community based on mutual respect, genuine friendship and balanced development – values that transcend cultural and religious boundaries and are rooted in the timeless wisdom of the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
Syedna Saifuddin was delivering a series of 10 sermons at the ‘Ashara Mubaraka’ Muharram gathering at Taheri Masjid in Karachi’s Saddar area.
Daily sermons cover a variety of topics and subjects, encouraging community members to seek knowledge from the Quran, emulate the noble qualities of the Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl al-Bayt, to renew their faith and cope with the complexities of modern life.
