UML demands resignation of Bagmati Chief Minister

Heitanda, June 25. The Communist Party of Nepal (UCML)-Parliamentary Party of Bagmati Province has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkater.

The demand was made in a statement issued by party leader and former Bagmati province economic affairs and planning minister Jagannath Tapalia on Tuesday.

The statement said, “We are working to create an environment for consensual government formation to ensure stability in Bagmati Province, taking the initiative of our party, Nepal Communist Party (UML), aimed at building political stability in the country at the Centre and in all provinces. To this end, five (five) ministers representing our party in the current government formed under the support of Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) Bagmati Provincial Congress Party led by the Honourable Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkat met the Honourable Chief Minister yesterday and formally informed them of their resignation and withdrawal of support.

It also requested the Bagmati State government to refrain from taking far-reaching decisions.

The statement mentioned that the present government, which has achieved a provisional status, has clearly fallen into the minority and demanded the Chief Minister to resign as soon as possible and supported the movement for establishing a consensus government.
