Samsung says production ‘uninterrupted’ despite strike

SEOUL: South Korean technology giant Samsung said on Tuesday (July 9) that despite Thousands of workers went on a three-day general strike.

The national Samsung Electronics union said more than 5,000 of its members stopped working on Monday as part of a long-running fight over pay and benefits.

The union has more than 30,000 members, representing more than one-fifth of the company’s workforce.

“There has been no disruption in production,” Samsung was quoted as saying by local media.

Park Seol, a senior union member, told AFP on Tuesday that production had been affected.

“But more importantly, companies should understand that we don’t just want to impact their production lines, we want them to hear our voices and understand how desperate we are,” she said.
