Flood situation in Assam improves slightly as Number of people On July 9, officials said the death toll in 27 districts affected by the floods had fallen to around 1.88 million.
The death toll from this year’s floods, landslides and storms has risen to 85, with six more deaths reported on Monday, the report said.

Water levels at various places on several major rivers, including the Yarlung Zangbo, continued to exceed warning levels and rainfall was forecast in some areas.
Officials said 18,80,700 people were affected in 27 districts, while nearly 22.75 lakh people were affected by the floods on Sunday.
The worst-hit district was Dhubri, where nearly 475,000 people were submerged in floods; followed by Cachar, where more than 201,000 people were submerged in floods; and Barpeta, where nearly 136,000 people were submerged in floods.
Officials said the government currently operates 543 camps and relief distribution centers in 25 regions, caring for 345,500 displaced people.
Several agencies including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF are carrying out rescue operations in the disaster-hit areas.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati said on Monday that a cyclonic circulation was enveloping Assam and adjoining areas up to 1.5 km above sea level.
Thunderstorm and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours.
The water level of the Brahmaputra river has crossed the warning mark in Nimatigat, Tezpur, Guwahati and Dhubri.
Other major rivers that breached the red mark include Subansiri at Badati Ghat, Burhidikhing at Chennimari, Dikku at Sivasagar, Disang at Nangramulagat, Kopiri at Dharamtur, Barak at BP Ghat, Sankosh at Golokganj and Kushiyala at Karimganj town.
Officials added that damage to infrastructure such as embankments, roads and bridges was reported from different parts of the state.
