Nostalgic photos of Prince William as a baby have left royal fans in awe as he bears a striking resemblance to his son Prince George.
While George’s resemblance to his father is evident in recent photos, historic photos from William, 41,’s christening highlight just how similar the two men are – despite being separated by more than 30 years.
William was baptized on August 4, 1982, six weeks after his birth.
The adorable photo depicts Princess Diana cradling the little prince as he nibbles on her fingers.
The baby was dressed in a family heirloom Spitalfields silk and Honiton lace christening gown – first made in 1841 for Queen Victoria’s daughter.
Reportedly, the gown was worn by 62 royal babies over the past 163 years, but was finally retired after the christening of Lady Louise Windsor in 2004 as being too fragile. Mirror.
Queen Elizabeth subsequently commissioned a replica, which was worn by George.
His baptism took place in October 2013, when he was slightly older by four months.
The christening ceremony, held at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, had just 23 guests, making it more intimate than the 60 guests who attended Prince William’s christening.
However, despite the different styles of the parties and updated outfits, photos from both events highlighted the similarities between the father and son as infants.
Now approaching his 11th birthday, the young prince and future king is bearing more and more resemblance to his father as they are often seen together at various events, most recently at the FA Cup final.
Following Prince George’s christening, which was officiated by Archbishop Justin Welby, the royal and his seven godparents gathered at Clarence House for a champagne reception before gathering for official portraits.
The late Queen called the event “a joyous occasion where four generations come together” in her Christmas broadcast that year.
