The expansion, which is under construction, is expected to include six stations Subway line 4 To the west, from Alsos Veikou to Petroupoli.

Currently, the extension from the “Alsos Veikou” station to the city of Petroupoli is being studied, and the line will pass through New Ionia and New Philadelphia.

The specific expansion includes 6 new stations that will serve the areas of N. Ionia, N. Philadelphia, Ag. Anagiro, Ilio and Petroupoli.

In fact, the new route will also serve AEK fans, who will be able to travel to the club’s new stadium easily.

In this context, the original plans for the expansion changed, as at first it was planned to build a station near the eponymous ISAP station in Perissas, and then a station in New Philadelphia at the intersection of Dekelia and Vryoulon Avenues.

It turned out that there were important reasons for choosing an alternative layout of the project, namely, to build a station near the eponymous station in Pefkakia, instead of Perissos, and then in a park with sufficient area for the construction of the station in the north of Philadelphia (Asia Minor Monumental Park), about 150 m from the “OPAP Arena”.

The project has a budget of 600 million euros.

Attiko Metro officials said that the design of the main Athens Metro project and its expansion project is the result of a dedicated traffic study that takes into account population standards, predicted traffic demand, etc.

The scalability of the Athens Metro is within the framework of research maturity and is supported by funding.
