A man has been arrested for stealing cables from a Stelco substation.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. Police said the case is under investigation.

At 6:12 am on Tuesday, the transformer cables at the Stelco substation near Majeeduya School were cut and stolen, which resulted in power outages in parts of Henford for the day.

There has been an increase in cable thefts from Stelco substations recently. In March, a man was electrocuted while trying to steal transformer cables in the Shelter Flat area of Uppsala.

Stelco employees entered the substation with the transformer switched off. Stelco also advised the public not to steal cables used by the company.
