Manx Care is inviting carers to share their experiences and help shape future standards of care for people with dementia.

The second in the series of “In Your Shoes” sessions will be July 24, 2024 As part of a whole organisation initiative, the programme aims to improve the quality of experience for every service user, carer and family member of the services provided by Manx Care.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with clinicians, leaders and third sector partners and speak to them face to face about their real-life experiences.

Karen Maddox, head of experience and engagement, encouraged people to come forward and speak publicly about their experiences.

she says:

“For the second event, we’re really keen to hear more carers’ experiences and views, whether they’ve had positive experiences or whether they feel there’s room for improvement. This is another real opportunity for carers to share their stories and influence the future of care locally.

“Following our first event in March, we developed a collaborative working group and action plan to improve the experience for carers and people living with dementia. The next event aims to hear more voices so we can incorporate further feedback to expand our action plan and work to make things even better.”

The event will last approximately two hours and will involve service users, carers, families and staff discussing experiences both individually and in groups.

Refreshments will be provided.

The activities are arranged as follows:

Wednesday 24 July 2024, 11am – 1pm, Douglas Strong Isle of Man Hospice. To reserve a place please contact MCALS by email: mcals@gov.im Or call +44 1624 642642 before July 17, 2024. Thank you.
