Tropical nights are possible over the weekend, with Foreca forecasting the warmest nights for the rest of the week to be around 19 degrees.

Tropical nights in Finland usually occur in late summer, July and early August. According to Rinne, they are rare even if the temperature does not exceed the 20 degree limit.

The prolonged heatwave and scorching sun warmed the water and the land surface.

Weekends are the hottest, but the difference between them is not that big. Southern and central Finland are the most prone to sweating.

Although the official tropical limit of 20 degrees was not exceeded, the conditions were exceptional by any means. Rinne, Foreca’s on-call meteorologist since 2008, said he had never encountered anything like it in his career.
– These nights are unusually warm for this time of year. Even if the temperature stays at 17 or 18 degrees, this is still something we don’t usually see in practice.
