There is a fierce rivalry between the UML and the Nepali Congress, so it is correct to believe that they cannot get along. Yet why do Prachanda and his allies forget the general Marxist analysis that their fundamental beliefs, corporate interests and international influence can always come together!
President Prachanda stressed that if the Nepali Congress gets angry, he will stand on the shoulders of the UML, and if the UML loses its word, he will stand on the shoulders of the Congress. He remains focused on the arithmetic of Parliament. He wants the Congress to be included in the power equation. It is clear that his arithmetic has been surpassed by algebra.
The politics of the last equation has taken a new turn after the UML, the mother party, did not support the current government led by Maoist Centre Chairman Prachanda for more than a year and a half and allied with the Nepali Congress. The main purpose of this congressional format seems to be to make UML Chairman Oli the Prime Minister and cover up many problems including good governance that exist today.
After Prime Minister Prachanda directed that numerous corruption cases be brought into the basket and investigated, Home Minister Ravi Ramichane also took action, and ostensibly the Congress-ML has started this in a hurry. While Ravi Ramichane himself is also being investigated for collaborating in scams, leaders of the Maoist Centre have also been implicated in cases like gold.
The political situation has taken a new and intense turn after the arrest of Nike Bechan Jha. The gang leader seized tens of millions of rupees from Nepalese and sent them to the United States as non-citizen Bhutanese refugees. Bechan has good relations in Nepal, India and the United States, especially after finding out about his relationship with the family of the Congress Party president, many people feel that there is a new equation to avoid, which has also been hotly discussed by netizens. It has exacerbated the current political equation to a certain extent, but it is not the main aspect. The main aspect is to abandon the agenda for change.
The C-UML has equated the slogan of stability with constitutional amendment. Saying that the current government structure is ugly implies restructuring it and making it more public-spirited. However, the fundamental principles of federalism and inclusivity established by the Maoist war and the people’s movement seem set to come under attack. The C-UML’s constitutional amendment proposal has been welcomed even by monarchist forces like the RPP, with ample scope to call it a retrogressive conspiracy against the current constitution.
The issues established by the Maoist movement in Nepali politics remain at the center of politics. Republic, federalism, secularism, and especially inclusive democracy have become the main issues not only for the Communists but for all the major political forces in the world.
In order to translate these issues into practice, the Maoist movement or the Maoist centres that are always or mostly in power after the people’s war/people’s movement should retain these values ​​and moral behaviour.
If the Maoists could come up with programs and plans to implement public welfare social issues, today’s hostile political forces would not be in a state of competition. The basic meaning of the Maoist’s loss of moral authority is that he has forgotten the priority of the strategic and action program and plan that suits his political problems.
Creating an environment where competing political forces overshadow issues that are built from the people is what erodes the strength of the Maoist movement. The Maoists have not abandoned their agenda in principle, but when they had many non-Marxist visions of becoming leaders of ordinary people and entire countries, it was clear that the capitalist world did not take them seriously.
The issues that the Maoists keep repeating have proven to be problems for the capitalist world. The capitalist camp fears that if the Maoist issues persist, even the political forces of tomorrow may refocus their politics around these issues.
The leadership culture where you raise cattle, goats, pigs and we raise smugglers and brokers should be destroyed now.
So now the Nepali Congress and the UML are trying to resolve this issue, leading to political polarization. No working class believes that the Prachanda-led government has the ability to stop the atrocities that are escalating these problems, or that they will protest against these issues when the government goes down.
In the name of power-sharing, the Maoists themselves have committed some unethical misdeeds. However, the roots of the corruption scandals that have become almost institutionalized in Nepal have been exposed in a visible way during the rule of the Maoist leadership.
Today, the protectors of corruption seem to have agreed that the Maoist-led government must be punished for exposing corruption that cannot be hidden even within the Congress, UML, employees, businessmen and even within the Maoists. It is on this basis that the campaign to decorate the Congress-ML personal agreement with the signboard of the national government has now begun.
The Maoist leadership, from the core leadership to the village and road toll, should now be able to demonstrate courage in practice and conduct a serious and ruthless self-examination of its weaknesses and possibilities. The leadership at all levels should be able to display its assets in a transparent manner, at least within the party line.
Illegal assets acquired by Maoist affiliates in the guise of Panch, Congress and UML should be politicised and nationalised through the party. Past mistakes in ideology, politics, organisation, military, economics etc. should be acknowledged without hesitation. Depending on the nature of the mistake, one should be ready to accept punishment and atonement. Atonement should be provided for mistakes, in addition to heinous crimes.
For heinous crimes and crimes committed by criminals, the parties involved should be handed over to the government or the court as required. Organizational decision-making should eliminate the ideological ills of “the grandson of the supreme leader”. Workers and the people should also participate in policy making.
Officials elected from the party at all levels should break away from the neoliberal system and implement policies and programs guided by socialism. The leadership culture that says you raise cows, goats and pigs, and we raise smugglers and brokers must be destroyed now.
