KATHMANDU, June 17. The Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist Party have agreed to form a new government. Sources close to the two parties confirmed that the two parties agreed to share power on Monday evening.

At a hotel in Lalitpur, second-tier leaders from both sides were working on a written agreement, which one leader told him would be signed on Monday.

The two parties have agreed to take turns leading the government, with KP Sharma Oli, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist-Leninist Party, leading the government in the first phase. The UML will take over nine ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, while the Congress will take over 10 ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Sources said the two parties also agreed to set up a committee to make recommendations on constitutional amendments.
